Toddler Play Park Fundraiser

Why are we fundraising for the Todler Play Park? In September of 2024 the FDP held a public facebook consultation to determine what the park users wanted to be changed within the park. A large proportion of respondents (11%) reported that they would like to see additional play equipment be installed within the toddler play area, immediately outside of the Park Pavilion Cafe. We agreed that this area is unsuitable (see current photo below) and consequently poorly used despite numerous young toddlers visiting the cafe and using the larger play area (not in sight of the cafe outside seating area). After consultations with representatives from Plymouth City Council, who gave us their support in raising the funds to purchase and have installed appropriate equipment from their approved suppliers, the Friends of Devonport Park have been raising funds towards this goal. The estimated minimum amount neded to have two new, medium-sized pieces of equipment installed will be £6000. Once we have attained this goal, the friends will hold another public consultation so that park users can vote on a selection of play equipment and go ahead to have this equipment installed. Fundraising methods: Look out for our TOY and Bric-a-Brac stalls opposite the Devonport Park Pavilion Cafe on spring & summer weekends! Donations gratefully received - please contact us to arrange. Grant funding - the FoDP have begun seeking and aplying for grants to help fund this project (if your organisation can help, please contact us with details). How are we fundraising?

The FoDP fundraise in many ways - some spefically towards a project (such as with The Toddler Play Park Fundraiser or the volunteer gardeners) and some simply to raise general funds towards the running costs of the charity as a whole or to run community events each year. Due to limited volunteers and time, the methods we use are constrained however we are always open to new ideas (especially if that idea is accompanied by the offer of time and skills). Below are some of the ways the charity has, currently or historically, recieved funds. Grant Funding: this is where the charity is awarded grant funding from another organisation or body and The FoDP have gratefully received funding from a variety of organisations including, but not exclusive to: The National Lottery Community Fund (https://www.tnlcommunityfund.org.uk/) Plymouth City Council (https://www.plymouth.gov.uk/) The Coop Community Fund (https://causes.coop.co.uk/) Babcock (https://www.babcockinternational.com/sustainability/supporting-our-communities/) The Clemas Trust (https://theclemastrust.org/) The Plymouth Astor Trust (https://www.plymouthastortrust.org.uk/) Individuals: the FoDP have also gratefully receieved funding from numerous individuals and elected officials (city councilors) over the years - far too many to list here. The FoDP are very grateful to all who have donated to the charity over the years.

Fundraising to support the volunteer gardeners

The Friends of Devonport Park Voluntary Gradener Team continuously raise funds in a variety of ways to support their work, such as plant sales (see the wheelbarrow at The Training Centre at the bottom of the park by the Paradise Road entrance), private donations (both money and goods) and grant aplications. They are also supported by Plymouth City Council and local councillors, who, at times, supply funds for tools and seeds when needed. If you’d like to support the voluntary gardeners, please see our dedicated Gardeners page for more information or contact us for more information.
