About the Friends of Devonport Park charity
Today
The Friends of Devonport Park (FoDP) CHARITY today operates primarily to liaise with the local authority
Plymouth City Council (PCC) in the management of Devonport Park. To facilitate this it has its’ own dedicated
PCC liaison officer (…) who regularly attends its’ committee meeetings and keeps in contact with the charity’s
dedicated PCC lead officer (Mike Gallagher) outside of meetings. Its’ other functions include:
•
fundraising to source finances for maintenance and improvement projects within the park and to host
community EVENTS for the local community.
•
management of The Friends of Devonport Park Volunteer Gardeners who ork with PCC employed gardeners
to maintain the green spaces within the park.
•
working with other stakeholders to improve the green spaces local to but external to Devonport Park (find out
more on the NEWS page).
•
supporting other friends of groups both locally and further afield.
Today the committee consists of 9 dedicated local volunteers who meet monthly at The Devonport Park Pavilion
Cafe, alongside regular attendees such as the FoDP PCC liaison officer, local councillors, PCSOs and other local
